CUSTOM THREADED SHAFT MANUFACTURER
Precision Threads.
Functional Shaft Geometry.
Custom precision threaded shafts engineered around thread fit, functional journals and assembly accuracy.
Topshaft manufactures drawing-based threaded shafts for OEM machinery and industrial assemblies. Threads, bearing journals, shoulders and end features are controlled as one complete component.
ENGINEERING SNAPSHOT
Thread requirements integrated with shaft datums
Nominal diameter alone does not define a functional threaded shaft. The mating fit depends on the complete thread designation and its relationship to the shaft axis.
- Thread form
- Metric, Unified inch, trapezoidal or drawing-specified profile
- Thread geometry
- Major, pitch and minor diameter; pitch, lead, hand and starts
- Shaft features
- Bearing journals, shoulders, reliefs, keyways, splines and end features
- Critical control
- Thread fit, pitch diameter, coaxiality, runout and shoulder position
THREAD GEOMETRY
Pitch, lead and pitch diameter define the fit
Pitch is the distance between adjacent thread forms. Lead is travel per revolution: on a single-start thread lead equals pitch; on multi-start threads, lead equals pitch multiplied by the number of starts.
Pitch diameter is central to mating-thread fit. The thread axis may also need to align with a bearing journal or shoulder datum where the assembly rotates or locates precisely.

CNC THREAD MACHINING
Thread form and shaft alignment in one route
Precision CNC thread turning supports custom thread lengths and shaft geometry. The production route is selected around material, form, quantity, treatment and inspection requirements.
- Metric, Unified, trapezoidal and drawing-specified forms
- Right-hand, left-hand and multi-start configurations
- Thread relief, chamfer and shoulder seating geometry
THREAD INSPECTION
Inspect the fit—not only the outside diameter
Functional gauges, pitch-diameter measurement, optical inspection or drawing-specific checks can be used according to the specified form and tolerance.
- Major diameter, pitch diameter and pitch
- Thread hand, starts and required full thread length
- Thread-to-journal alignment and rotating runout
